Who is Wayne Jacobs?

Wayne Jacobs is a red haired left back who played for ten years at Bradford City, so the 2004-05 season was his Testimonial/Benefit year.
In all Wayne's years at City he was been our best left back, but more important than that is the fact that he is a thoroughly decent bloke.  He was one of the City players who always turned up for supporters do's, and he remembered my name as well.  His last ever game was City's last home game of the 04-05 season.  Afterwards there was an informal race night at the club for Wayne's Benefit.  Hundreds turned up to wish him well and to thank him.  He gave a heartfelt and moving speech to thank us, Bradford City, his family and God.  He was in tears by the end of it, and many of the audience was moist eyed.

I wrote and published The Wayne Jacobs Little Red Head Book partly to raise money, for Wayne's Testimonial and for me, but mostly as a mark of my appreciation for a man I respect deeply.

After Wayne joined non-league Halifax Town as second in command to manager Chris Wilder he came back to Bradford City as assistant manager, formally under red head Stuart McCall (who never bought a book, and reckoned he was a strawberry blond!) and currently (Feb 2010) under the manager Peter Talyor.
