Who is Wayne Jacobs?

Yeah!  I've read it, and it's really good. Mark Bower, a Bradford City Player of the Year.
I loved the stuff about red hair! A young red headed woman.
Also bought by many hundreds of others, including Owen Morrison, Gavin Oliver, Bobby Davidson, and John Aldridge, who waved his during one of his sending off stories.

Celebrating a red headed footballer & red heads the world over
This book is small, red, and packed full of wonders!  With a tribute to Bradford City's Wayne Jacobs by Chris Armstong; a Bradford City All Time Great Red Head XI's, and Modern and Classic Red Head Teams.
The book also has startling scientific revelations about red hair; expert red head dressing tips; a ginger cookie word search; a red hot Bradford curry recipe; and cultural guides to Bradford, Sheffield, Rotherham and Hull.  All this for just £4.00, for UK sales £4.95 to the rest of the world, inc postage and packing.  Click this page to buy.

Glyn Watkins presenting Wayne Jacobs with a cheque for £70 from sales of the handmade version of the book.

This book originally appeared as a hand made edition, of which I made and sold 70, with £70 going to Wayne's testimonial.  parts of the story of it's making are in the bits of blog below.

Book Blogg
Sat 9th April It's been one hell of a week with this book.  The fact that today I printed, cut, and carefully inserted correction slips into 640 books is about par for the course.  If you buy a book I would keep the slip in place just incase I ever get famous.  If I sell out this edition the next one will have the mistakes corrected.

Thurs 7th April To quote web fan Jenny: 'Glyn I hope you are at home and not in hospital.  I have never given birth to a book and have no doubt the labour and energy expended is very great but you must look after yourself. Cheers Jenny.
Tues 5th April Things have turned frantic.  There should be some books available for me to sell on Sunday.  If there is not, or only a few, then I will take orders and pay postage and packing costs myself.  This includes anyone buying the Ripple Effect Ten Pounds bumper bargain bundle.
Monday 4th April 05.  I am nearly there with the book, although the cost has doubled since the first quote, partly due to me increasing the spec.  It should be on sale at Sunday's game against Hull and will cost just under four pounds.  If I go for the best spec I will need to sell 100 to cover my own costs, if I give 50 pence a sale for the first 100 sold.  So I think I will give 50p per sale.  If I only sell 1 I will bare the cost.  If I sell 100 then I will give 75 pence.  I need to make some money from this book, but that has never been the driving force of my publishing, or life.
I have been almost overwhelmed this week with the struggle to get the next edition of The Wayne Jacobs Little Red Head Book out for the Hull game on Sunday 10th April.  It is mostly my own fault for leaving things late, and Shipley Print are being wonderfuly flexible, but I do not have layout software they can read, which makes things very difficult.

31st March. Am aiming to have the book on sale at Valley Parade for the Hull game, 13.00 Sunday 10th April.

15th March. Despite the problems I moan about below I have decided to press ahead with the book and try and get it launched on the weekend of the Bradford City Vs Hull game, 10th April.  I cannot fix the price until it has gone to print.  but it will almost certainly be under 4 quid from me, with postage and packing added for orders from here, with over 10 percent of the profit going to Wayne Jacobs testimonial fund.

7th March.  I went to the printers today to check the spec on their quote, and discovered their quote was not to my full spec.  I now face losing the colour cover or taking a 50 percent increase in the cost.  So I have more hard thinking to do.  The Wayne Jacobs Little Red Head Book will be eaier to sell than Walburgas forgetting - forgiving but selling Bradford City shirts in Huddersfield would be easier than selling Walburgas forgetting - forgiving, so that is no measure, and the last few weeks has knocked a fair bit of enthusiasm out of me.  I have to make my mind up in a week.  If I don't produce the book I will make enough hand made ones for the six good people who had faith enough to pre-pay for one.  8.  03.  2005

21st January
The Wayne Jacobs handmade Little Red Head Book SOLD OUT!

There will be manufacured Little Red Head Book available soon Please check this site in a week or so.  It will be 32 pages, 8 more than the handmade version, and will stay A6 sized.  There will be new drawings by me of Hillsborough and Millmoor, Hull dockside, I could not be bothered going to Boothferry Park and my classic picture of Valley Parade drawn from the pub, possibly in colour.

The Wayne Jacobs handmade Little Red Head Book IS SOLD OUT!

I am now working on a new, printer made, edition.  Much of the handmade edition will be rewritten for the new version, and there will be more pictures and 8 more pages.  Because of a massive in costs I am trying to keep the price under 4 pounds, with a good percentage of profits going to Wayne's testimonial fund.  I may offer new handmade books later this year.

The Wayne Jacobs Handmade Little Red Head Book

Celebrating Red Heads The World Over

As bought by Gavin Oliver, Bobby Davidson and comic Jed Stone.  Wigan manager Paul Jewel took a copy, but I never saw his fiver!  Scoring legend John Aldridge not only coughed up without a quibble for a Little Red Head Book, but also flourished it during one of his sending-off stories!

Since starting the book I have become a proud member of The Ginger Nation -

I first got the idea for this book at a Harrogate Town Vs Bradford City pre-season friendly.  I talked to Wayne Jacobs in the stand, and he said: 'Go on then.'  I produced and made the first one in 11 days!  Wayne and I were on tv (see below) and he has bought a Walburgas forgetting - forgiving Why not follow his lead.

The book was launched at Wayne Jacobs Testimonial game, 24th July.  The testimonial was a good day.  City beat Bolton 2-1 (Wayne scoring a penalty in the last minute) and I managed to make 7 books and have sold most of them, and at a fiver.
I Was on the ITV Yorkshire regional news show (Calander) with Wayne Jacobs, promoting the book, on Friday 23rd.  I did not see it, because I don't have a telly, but apparently it was fun.  I finished the book just in time, unfortunately I have problems with both my printers, so I will only have a few copies to sell.
