In the early 90’s Glyn Watkins forgot Valentines Day. Rather than send a late card he got a Saints book and picked Walburga to be the Patron Saint of forgetfulness and late cards, drew a card and wrote a poem, and set it. It made no difference, but he has done a card almost every year since. Walbuga turned out to be an Anglo-Saxon noblewoman who helped convert the german tribes, and become one of the most influential women in Dark Age Europe. She gave her name to Walpurgisnacht. Walburgas forgetting - forgiving A cllection of Walburgas cards, and others. I'd say the book is a rare and original expression. The openness of the poetry, complemented with some emotive artwork, evokes the cherished memories of a man who has lived and loved. Nic Wistreich, Editor ' Get Your Film Funded "I drift away when I'm reading it. You're taken away. You're in another planet. Then you have to come back to Earth because Glyn is sat there, on the other side of the desk." Shamina Khan, New Deal advisor, Bradford Job Centre. “You're not to spoil him. He's to pay full price!” - Kenneth Branagh's secretary ‘...thank you for the splendid ‘Walburgas’.’ Kenneth Branagh The Wayne Jacobs Little Red Head Book (Red headed footballers and the mysteries of red hair) ...a tome of stunning originality. FourFourTwo Aug 2005. I've read it. It's really good. Mark Bower, Bradford City Player of the year, 2004-05 I've still got it in my toilet. A red headed bloke I sold one to ages ago. As waved by John Aldrige during a sending off story, and taken by Wigan manager Paul Jewel, without payment. Highway to ULL (Hayseed Dixie, hillbilly rock, Highlands, alcohol, Finland & fish) The research you did! I read it and thought 'My bro wrote this!' It's a great book man, and you tell people I told you to tell them so. John Wheeler, Hayseed Dixie |
