Bradwan Nationwide Cultural Guide

CREWE

Crewe is a working town built in the middle of one of the richest and snootiest parts of England.  You have to earn at least as much as a permanently injured, three goal a season striker to live comfortably in the rest of Cheshire.  This makes Crewe a bit inward looking.  The town is not unwelcoming, but nearly all visitors come for the football and you can see the ground from the station; so why bother doing anything to help strangers find the town centre?  More over, why should Crewe bother telling people about the rich and pretty towns near by that don’t like it?

Nantwich

This is a pretty and very rich town, and is worth a visit.  It is the kind of place where a significant number of Saturday shoppers will not only know the Chief Constable, but also have his mobile number.  So if you wear your City shirt they will have something to complain about over dinner, if not over the phone.  Please do not scare them however.  Just because their dustbins are probably worth more than your house, does not make them bad people.  They just want to be left alone to enjoy complaining about the kinds of people they hardly ever see in real life; which is another thing they will hardly ever see.
