Odeon Songs

Odes for the Odeon
(1.) Tune of Jingle Bells

Dashing through the blow The Odeon they'd slay
Above our heads they'll go Laughing all the way
Changes we must ring
With our spirits bright
Oh what fun to laugh and sing
When the council do what's right

'O-de-on O O-de-on
we're with you all the way
oh what fun it'll be to see...
Who gets kicked out in May (repeat)

(2) Tune of While shepherds

Yorkshire Forward spends our cash
To raise us to the ground
They just want to knock us down
And leave just holes around

Fear us, they said, your town is dead
Your views we will not mind
Great buildings in your town we'll eat
and leave just waste behind

To us in Bradford town this day
Still stands the Odeon dear
We'll fight to keep it standing still
And quangos we'll not fear

This is our town, we love it still
We are not fools or sheep
We'll stand and fight for what is left
And the O-de-on we'll keep..

(3)Tune of O Little Town of Bethlehem

O Odeon stark of Bradford town
How sad we see thee stand
Amongst the dark, decrepit streets
That concrete men have planned
And yet our hopes still shineth
Our council sees the light
Ends Mistakes and tears of all the years
And does to you what's right!

(4) Tune of We Three Kings

We three kings of Wastefield are
Flat-ten-ing we traverse afar
Town and fountain,
moor and mountain
Following yonder star

O Star of money, star of might
Cash with royal portrait bright
Downward leading, still proceeding
Guide us into deeper shite

(5) Tune of Ding Dong Merrily On High

Our leaders p*ss on us from high
The Odeon - preserve it
leaders p*ss on us from high...  ..
we really don't deserve it
Ooh, o o o o o, oooh o o o o o, ooh o o o o o Odeon
Now council lets preserve it
Ooh, o o o o o, oooh o o o o o, ooh o o o o o Odeon
Now council lets preserve it

Old Man Odeon

There's a town called the Bradford City
There's a place that I have to be
We really do care that the town's got troubles
The holes in the ground are for all to see
Old man Odeon, that old man Odeon
It does mean something
But counts for nothing
They just keep knocking, they keep on knocking things down

We've lost the Swan and we've lost the Kirkgate
They want hole in the ground to be the Odeon's sad fat
We must stop knocking, we must stop them knocking it down.

Bradford council just looks for gain
From a city that's broken and racked with pain
Watch things fall
Eat their tale
You don't pay your taxes and you end in jail

I get so weary, I'm sick of lying
From a council that's lost it in a town that's dying
But old man Odeon, we'll keep him standing, just keep him standing, so long
